Preping your ski/board for a powder day

If you're an avid skier or boarder, you know that there's nothing quite like carving your way through fresh, powdery snow. But to truly make the most of powder conditions, you need to make sure your skis are tuned properly. Here are some tips for tuning your skis for powder conditions that will have you effortlessly gliding through the deep stuff.

First things first: make sure your edges are sharp. While you might think that sharp edges are only important on hard-packed snow, they're just as important in powder conditions. Sharp edges will help you maintain control and make quick turns in the deep snow.

If you are snowboarding, consider moving your bindings back a bit. This will allow you to place more weight on the tail of your board keeping your nose from diving into the deep snow. Keep in mind that moving your bindings back will also affect your turn radius, so be prepared to adjust your technique accordingly.

Finally, consider applying a coat of wax to the base of your skis. This will help them glide smoothly through the powder, reducing drag and making it easier to maintain your speed. Keeping your speed will help you get through a flatter slower spot and prevent you from having to make that dreaded hike out of a deep pow trap.

With your skis properly tuned for powder conditions, you'll be able to make the most of your time on the mountain. You'll float effortlessly through the deep snow, carving smooth turns and feeling the rush of adrenaline that only comes from riding in perfect conditions.

So, if you're heading to the mountains for a day of powder skiing, take the time to tune your skis properly or have our mobile tune shop come do it for you. You'll be glad you did when you're gliding through the fresh snow with ease and having the time of your life
